Key Note Speakers

The Revd Dr David Hilborn BA, MA, PhD SFHEA is Academic Dean of the London School of Theology. He was previously Principal of Moorlands College and St John’s College, Nottingham. Before that, he helped to establish St Mellitus College, London. He was Head of Theology at the Evangelical Alliance UK from 1997 and 2006 and chaired its Theological Advisory Group from 2016 to 2024.
David is an ordained Anglican and was a member of the Church of England’s Faith and Order Commission from 2006 to 2016. He is a graduate of the Universities of Nottingham (BA, PhD) and Oxford (MA), is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and has led or served on the ministry teams of several local churches. He has authored or edited several books, including Picking Up the Pieces: Can Evangelicals Adapt to Contemporary Culture (Hodder), The Nature of Hell, ‘Toronto’ in Perspective, One Body in Christ: The History and Significance of the Evangelical Alliance, Movement for Change: Evangelical Perspectives on Social Transformation (Paternoster), The Atonement Debate (Zondervan), and Anglicans and Pentecostals in Dialogue (Pickwick). For the past decade, he has been active in developing Anglican-Pentecostal relations, and currently serves on the English Anglican-Pentecostal Steering Group, the International Pentecostal-Anglican Commission, and the World Council of Churches Joint Consultative Group on Pentecostalism. He has supervised a number of doctoral theses in the areas of Evangelical theology and history, Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, and ecumenism. He is married to Mia, a senior hospital chaplain, and they have a grown-up son and daughter.

Tim Farron has been the Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale since 2005.

He served as the party’s leader from 2015-2017.

Tim is currently the Liberal Democrat Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs spokesperson.

He set up the organisation Faith in Public to encourage people of faith to engage in the world of politics.

He hosts the weekly podcast ‘A Mucky Business’ which seeks to inspire and equip Christians to care about politics, pray knowledgeably, and engage with politics effectively.
