Christians for Independence (CFI) is a nationwide organisation of people who would like to see Scotland become a country where the Christian values of justice and compassion are the governing principles; we believe that building a society based on these values, which are shared by many Scots, can best be done in an independent country.

We believe that we should follow the teachings of Christ not just in our own lives but also in the public sphere, where we can try to influence policy accordingly. The devolved Scottish Government is unable to act in the many areas which are reserved to Westminster, and many policies pursued by UK Governments are not beneficial to Scotland.  Until we regain our full independence, we cannot implement the measures needed to ensure prosperity for all our people, whatever their origin, or a just, equitable and sustainable use of our resources, nor can we play the ethically positive role which we could have in the world.

CFI was founded in 2009. We have members belonging to many denominations of the Christian Church; we are not aligned with any political party.

The Christian Institute is an evangelical Christian organisation with around 60,000 supporters across Scotland and the rest of the UK. For over 30 years, the CI has been equipping believers to be salt and light for Christ in society. We are committed to upholding the truths of the Bible, which we believe is inerrant and the supreme authority for all of life. We promote God’s good gifts of marriage and the family, the sanctity of life and religious liberty. We support Christians in engaging with legislation before Parliament and seek to help parliamentarians understand what Christians believe and how bills could impact their Christian constituents. Alongside our parliamentary work, the CI has a legal team focused on religious liberty that handles over 200 requests for help every year, and an education team that helps parents, teachers and governors take a stand for Christ in schools.

Based in the Highlands of Scotland and standing in the Reformed tradition, Highland Theological College UHI seeks to nurture theological thinking by delivering rigorous, accessible and inspiring theological education at all levels from Access, through undergraduate degrees, to Masters and Doctoral studies. We do this by offering flexible, online study of Christian theology to equip students of all faith backgrounds and none to engage meaningfully with ever-changing cultures and societies. A founding academic partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands, HTC has been delivering theological education as a community of faith and scholarship since 1994. We do what we do to the glory of God and in service of the church.

The Access Programme, aimed primarily at those wishing to get a basic understanding of theology, can be used as a gateway to HTC’s undergraduate Honours degree in Theological Studies. We also offer a taught MLitt in Theology, Worldview and Culture and research degrees in theology and philosophy (MRes and PhD). As a partner college of the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), our degrees are delivered online through scheduled video-conference sessions, allowing students to study from anywhere in the world while still participating in real-time teaching and learning. In addition, all live sessions are recorded, enabling students to access classes asynchronously if they are unable to attend or wish to revisit the content. Learning is supported by extensive digital and physical library resources and a strong student support network.

At its core HTC is committed to academic excellence and theological education that engages every aspect of life and culture.’
