10am Rev David Hilborn<\/strong> – the importance of a Christian Worldview in the public square today \u2013 challenges that we face and opportunities they give us.
The Rev Dr David Hilborn BA, MA, PhD SFHEA is Academic Dean of the London School of Theology. He was previously Principal of Moorlands College and St John\u2019s College, Nottingham. Before that, he helped to establish St Mellitus College, London. He was Head of Theology at the Evangelical Alliance UK from 1997 and 2006 and chaired its Theological Advisory Group from 2016 to 2024.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Fraser<\/strong> \u2013 a Christian look at loneliness and belonging in Scotland and its impact on public policy. Logos Scotland has conducted extensive research over the last year into the issue of loneliness and belonging in Scotland. This seminar will dive deeper into that report, survey results and what that means for public policy in Scotland today.<\/p>\n

Lois McLatchie<\/strong> – Christians in the media \u2013 how we are presented and how can we do better. Lois is a seasoned commentator in UK media appearing regularly on TV and writing for various publications including the Spectator.\u00a0 In this seminar they will consider the challenges and opportunities the UK media presents to Christians and discusses how we can better get our message across.<\/p>\n

Calum McKellar<\/strong> – Christian Centre on Bioethics – \u201cBrain-Chips and Elon Musk: The Ethics of Cyborg Minds. With the development of new direct interfaces between the human brain and computer systems, such as with the Elon Musk\u2019s company Neuralink, the time has come for an in-depth ethical examination of the way these neuronal interfaces may support an interaction between the mind and cyberspace.<\/p>\n

Rev David Nixon<\/strong> – How should Christians engage with contemporary society. Exploring the challenge of following Christ, not our temperaments while striving to live in the post-Christian world. Learning from those who have gone before.<\/p>\n

2pm Tim Farron<\/strong> – politics a mucky business – keynote and questions
Tim Farron is a British Liberal Democrat politician, serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Westmorland and Lonsdale since 2005 and as the party’s Spokesperson for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs. He led the Liberal Democrats from 2015 to 2017, succeeding Nick Clegg, and is known for his strong Christian faith, commitment to social justice, and dedicated constituency work, often focusing on local issues in Cumbria. Tim is appearing today not as Liberal Democrat but as Christian eager and willing to share his faith and experiences with others.<\/p>\n
